What is a Student Assistant Coordinator?
A student assistant coordinator helps students who have been identified as experiencing difficulties in school due to a variety of problems. The types of problems could be:
alcohol or other drug problems of your own or of that of a family member
changes or crises in your family - divorce, separation, death, illness
suicidal thoughts
poor self-image or self esteem
troubles with friends or parents
feeling sad or lonely
eating disorders
academic problems - motivation or anxiety
If you are looking for a therapist to work with and aren't sure where to start
You can refer yourself to Mrs. Hernandez by coming to her office located in D209, sending her an email to request a meeting, or by working with your guidance counselor, coach, a teacher, a parent, or an administrator to connect with Ms. Hernandez
You may refer a friend if you are concerned about him/her
Your guidance counselor, any teacher, coach, school nurse, parent, Ms. Avery, Ds. Mumpower, or Mr. Brettell may refer you on their own - all referrals are confidential.
